A wedding for Brian and Reem: A refugee sponsorship story l Canada l Mennonite Central Committee

Brian Darweesh and Reem Younes met in Syria several years ago. They fled to Lebanon when Darweesh’s life was threatened. During that time they married. But there was no celebration, no party. MCC and a couple Mennonite churches in Winnipeg, Canada decided to sponsor the couple. Soon after the two arrived to Canada the churches threw them a wedding.
