Webinar: Career Ladders – Providing Opportunities for Ontario’s Working Adults

For many adults who want to advance in their careers, leaving their current jobs to participate in traditional education and training opportunities is not a realistic option — and finding the right kind of training is often difficult. At same time, many employers are struggling to find skilled workers who can move up and grow with their business.

Over the past year, Essential Skills Ontario and its partners Literacy Northwest (LNW), the Literacy Network of Durham Region (LiNDR) and Literacy Link South Central (LLSC) have been working on a new initiative – Career Ladders: Helping Communities Toward Integrated and Responsive Service Delivery. Career Ladders is a promising approach aimed at enabling vulnerable workers to enter and ascend up a career pathway in any given industry occupation on their own time.

Career Ladders: Providing Opportunities for Ontario’s Working Adults was a webinar hosted by John MacLaughlin, Director of Research and Policy at Essential Skills Ontario; Annemarie Wesolowski, Executive Director at LNW; Jennine Agnew-Kata, Executive Director at LiNDR; and Tamara Kaattari, Executive Director at LLSC to learn about this exciting initiative.
