Pacifica Treatment Centre Fun Run Aug 12

Indian-born Alison Silgardo, CEO of Vancouver-based Pacifica Treatment Centre, invites you to come and support the addictions treatment centre in its first annual Fun Run.

Encouraging healthy connections and physical activity as a part of a wholesome recovery, the 5K and 1K runs will take place at Trout Lake August 12, 2018, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Fun Run will mark the centre’s 41st anniversary as a B.C. treatment centre, and will be followed by live music and a barbecue picnic in the park.

A part of the annual Race for Recovery fundraiser, the Fun Run will draw attention to Pacifica Treatment Centre’s work in incorporating exercise as a part of addiction treatment and recovery.

Pacifica, the oldest, co-ed, licensed addictions treatment centre in B.C., offers private rooms to clients for the duration of the 12-week rehab program, with a focus on long-term recovery in a holistic way, with health, psychological and spiritual support, and activities like yoga, art therapy and writing workshops to support recovery. “We look at the cause of the addiction, not just the behaviour,” Silgardo says.

The run will help to raise funds for the centre’s exercise program and support individuals, families and communities in B.C. in becoming free from substance misuse.

There will also be an early bird draw featuring a pair of running shoes from Kintec, valued at $160 on August 6, 2018.
